Research, libraries, foundations and public administration: We work with organizations that operate with knowledge, public legitimacy and complex governance.
movingfutures supports knowledge organisations and public actors in bringing new strategies and ways of working to life. We work where research, administration, politics and societal expectations meet: from scientific institutions like the Max Planck Institute to libraries and foundations to public administrations and funding organisations.
Our strength is that we know the logics of political and scientific organisations from our own experience. We know what works, what doesn't — and where to take smart shortcuts. We moderate different interests, translate between professional logic and the public sphere, and jointly develop decision-making and implementation processes so that knowledge and formality become concrete impact.
As part of the FutureE programme of the Deutsche Stiftung für Engagement und Ehrenamt, we trained volunteer leaders over several weekends and accompanied them on their learning journey. We developed the complete content programme and coached participants on leadership, resilience, conflict resolution, team development, strategy, transformation, self-organisation and decision-making. Through practical exercises, we built prototypes for their future engagement together. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive — participants returned to their volunteer work with more clarity and energy.
For the Department of the Interior of the Canton of St. Gallen, we facilitated an extensive strategy process focused on the future direction of the new cantonal library. This involved navigating a wide range of topics that frequently had to be negotiated politically between different stakeholders — the canton, the city, and through Switzerland's direct democracy model, the public itself. In numerous workshops we worked with the entire leadership team of all participating libraries to develop, stress-test and prepare concepts for political communication.
For Max-Planck-Innovation GmbH, which serves as the central incubator for all Max Planck Institutes, we work within the MAX!mize programme — the internal startup accelerator. Through various training formats, we support founders with team dynamics, pitch training, storytelling and strategy work on their own companies. We don't deliver off-the-shelf training but consistently address the individual needs of each venture and their specific challenges.
